NTC reiterates call for inclusive solution

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 8 (MExN): The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has appealed to the Government of India to take the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) Working Group into confidence while working towards a solution to the Indo-Naga issue.   It further expressed appreciation that the “representatives of GOI are working towards that end.”   A press note from the NTC reiterated its call for an inclusive political settlement. It however lamented that “yet, when we talk about solution, our division becomes the primary obstruction to such settlement.”   The NTC said that the formation of the Working Group has “virtually mitigated gaps of divisions.” “The get-together of 6 NNPGs to become one under a single platform has given a ray of hope that we, the Nagas, are not only capable of dividing ourselves but we are squarely able to come into unity too. NTC is therefore grateful to the 6 NNPGs for having reposed their faith in the mediation so initiated,” it added.   Meanwhile, the NTC congratulated the Nagaland GBs Federation for “having come out boldly in support of inclusive solution to the extent of meeting the Prime Minister of India with written representation on the same.” The GBs are the traditional custodians of our culture, customs and way of life, and therefore they are the appropriate platform to spell out what will be best for the people of Nagaland, it said.   It claimed that the NTC, the Nagaland GBs Federation, the different civil bodies and Naga intellectuals have “sufficiently conveyed our opinions on the issue to the representative of GOI in particular already.”   With this in mind, the NTC hoped that the Government of India “will take wise decision in the greater interest of the Nagas in particular and of the Nation in general.”
