Dimapur, May 27 (MExN): The second consultative meeting between the Nagaland Tribal Hohos Coordination Committee (NTHCC) and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) on Wednesday unanimously resolved to induct the ENPO into the coordination committee, expanding the apex tribal coordination body to represent all 15 tribes of Nagaland.

The resolution stipulated that the induction would remain in effect until a proper common platform is formed, with the “objective of pursuing common Naga issues” under a unified framework.
With the induction of the ENPO, the NTHCC will now comprise the 15 tribes of Nagaland namely, Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sangtam, Sümi, Tikhir, Yimkhiung and Zeliang.
The meeting elected a new leadership for the expanded body. Angami Public Organization President Thejao Vihienuo was selected as Convenor, Yimkhiung Tribal Council President Throngso Yimkhiung as Co-Convenor, and Sümi Hoho President Dr Vihuto Asumi as Secretary.
The meeting deliberated extensively on matters concerning the oneness of the Naga people and reaffirmed the collective commitment of all tribal bodies to fostering unity and strengthening brotherhood. The leaders resolved to work together in pursuing common Naga issues through mutual understanding, cooperation and collective responsibility, while safeguarding the rights, interests and aspirations of the Naga people.
Expressing concern over the ongoing conflict, the meeting urged the Nagas and the Kukis of Manipur to pave the way for a peaceful resolution rather than confrontation. It made an appeal to both groups to release innocent hostages without delay, stating that such acts are against humanity.
The meeting also appealed to the Government of Nagaland to implement at the earliest the tripartite Memorandum of Agreement signed between the Government of India, the Government of Nagaland, and the ENPO.
