NTPRADAO questions price hike of essential goods in Kiphire

DIMAPUR, JUNE 2 (MExN): The Nagaland Transparency, Public Rights Advocacy and Direct Action Organisation (NTPRADAO) today expressed its disappointment at the rampant hike in the price of essential commodities citing “artificial shortages” in Kiphire district.

“The monsoon season has just crept-in 15-20 days ago and there are practically no roads blocked by landslides leading up to Kiphire unlike previous years,” a press release from the organization stated. It therefore wondered how in recent times the most common essential item i.e. rice was “not supplied to Kiphire for 3 consecutive days from Dimapur and thereafter it has been hiked to record levels.” Even the price of pork has been hike, it informed.

The NTPRADAO asked whether the Kiphire Deputy Commissioner is aware of “what his immediate subordinate the Additional Deputy Commissioner (KTC i/c) may be upto behind his back.” It urged the Kiphire DC to immediately look into the matter with utmost seriousness and rectify the matter to bring normalcy in the prices of essential commodities at the earliest for the benefit of citizens of Kiphire district. Failure to do this, the NTPRADAO said it would be compelled to stage sit-in-protest as its first phase of democratic stir.
