Dimapur, January 7 (MExN): The Nagaland Tool-Room & Training Centre, Dimapur under Directorate of industries & Commerce, Kohima was established by the Government of Nagaland with the assistance of Government of India. It was formally inaugurated on August 9, 2006 by the then Minister Khekiho Zhimomi, Minister for Industries & Commerce, Sericulture and Border Affairs, offers Diploma in Tool & Die Making Course (recognized by AICTE, New Delhi) of duration four years (including one year apprenticeship in reputed companies).
The objective of the centre is not only to give good education but also to ensure that the students get good job. The Centre conducts on a regular basis various activities like verbal/non verbal communication, resume writing, how to face interviews, how to develop a good presentation skill, time management etc keeping in mind, in developing their personality and to ultimately groom them up for placement in the industry. A session is included in each period a subject on personality development.
NTTC as a tool room
Tool Room is the industrial set-up (common facility centre) where the specialized Tools, Dies, Moulds, Jigs, Fixture are designed and manufactured. These tools are used for mass production for all Plastic components, Aluminum or any casting parts from kitchen utensils to space components, automotive, agriculture & industrial components, etc. State-of-the-art Production-cum-Training Centre with machines including Computer Aided Design & Manufacturing software (CAD/CAM), CNC Millings, CNC EDM, CNC WEDM, Jig Grinding, Injection Moulding Machines, Heat Treatment Units, conventional shop floor machines like drilling machines, surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, lathe machines, milling machines, welding machines, etc.
Scholarship
State Government Scholarship/Stipend for Technical Students: Students from Nagaland (Indigenous) undergoing 4 year course of Diploma in Tool & Die Making at NTTC, Dimapur are awarded @ 500 p.m. North Eastern Council (NEC) Scholarship: Diploma in Tool & Die Making at NTTC, Students who has secured 1st Div in HSLC examination, can apply for NEC Scholarship @ 600 p.m. Students from North east states apply through their respective State Department of Higher & Technical Education.
Placement
Campus interview from various companies are arranged every year for the final year students for undergoing 1(one) year on the job training. Likewise, good number of passed-out students are placed in companies across the country.
Students are interviewed at its Dimapur campus as well as on site by the Companies according to their performance. Companies expressed willingness to induct more students from theplacement centre in years to come.
The average Training Allowance is between Rs. 8000/- to Rs. 15,000/- pm during a period of one year depending upon respective Company rules.
During the visit to these Companies by NTTC Official to ascertain the performance of students, employers express sanctification and offering cent percent absorption. Further, they have expressed their requirement to absorb more students in their plant in the subsequent years. Therefore, it is expected that this group of professional student shall certainly find good placement in companies, if they so desired, with good salary packages. The demand of Diploma students is high in the market both across the country and abroad.
The Institute has arranged Placement Interview with several companies for candidates undergoing various short term training programme.
