NTTC securing job with Diploma in Tool & Die Making course

The Nagaland Tool-Room & Training Centre (NTTC), Dimapur under Directorate of industries & Commerce, Kohima has been conducting a job-oriented 4 years Diploma in Tool & Die Making course (approved by AICTE, New Delhi) including one year apprenticeship/OJT in reputed companies since inception.  

The NTTC was established by the Government of Nagaland with the assistance of Government of India and formally inaugurated on August 9, 2006. The 4 years Diploma in Tool & Die Making with an annual intake of 60 students is equivalent to Diploma in Mechanical Engineering certified by State Council for Technical Education, Government of Nagaland, according to NTTC.  

The first 3 years of the course is conducted at NTTC, Dimapur and 1 year ‘In-Plant Training’ in a reputed organization outside the State.  

“The job opportunities are high especially in the manufacturing industries all over India. The management shall extend all possible assistance to the passed candidates of DTDM course for their placement. However, the Centre will not be responsible for guaranteed job placement,” stated the prospectus of Diploma in Tool & Die Making.  

The minimum eligibility criteria to do the training is Matriculation in an English medium school with at least 45% of marks in aggregate (with Maths & Science subjects as compulsory subjects ). While the applicants must be within 16 to 19 years of age, there is a relaxation of 5% in marks and 3 yrs in the upper age limit for SC/ST candidates.

  According to the NTTC’s prospectus, the total admission fee for the course is Rs. 5000 with monthly tuition fee of Rs. 1750. The hostel fee is extra and is available for male students.  

Admission is done in the month of June and the classes usually start from the 3rd week of July every year.  

The applicants are selected on the basis of written examination, tests and interviews. Such informations are published in local papers time to time and on NTTC’s website at http://nttcdimapur.org.in/.  

The Centre also provides Stipendiary Support of Rs. 500 per month during the first three years or Rs. 6000 per annum.  

The NTTC also offer a NEC stipend for meritorious students of HSLC exam and Company allowances between Rs. 8,000 to Rs.15, 000 per month in the 4th year during ‘On-the-Job-Training’ period.  

Students of Diploma in Tool & Die Making are eligible for SBI Education Loan (upto Rs.4.00 lakh without any security or margin money), the prospectus informed.  

Repayment will commence one year after completion of course or 6 month after securing a job, whichever is earlier, it added.  

While felicitating provision of earning while learning for students on request, the course also offers 100% placement assurance in privates/government sectors with starting salary of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 30,000.  

“The Tool Room & Training Centre has a vital role to play in the national economy. There is hardly any sector of economic activity which does not need the contribution of Tool Room, starting from agriculture, defence, automobiles, electronic, tele-communication, space research, machine building, etc.,” the Centre added.
