
Jakhama, July 14 (MExN): The inspection team from Nagaland University visited St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama on July 13, regarding grant of permission to run Master Programmes as applied by the college for Department of English. Accordingly, Prof. SK Sharma, Dean, SET as the convener, Prof. Nigamananda Das, Head, Department of English, NU and Associate Prof. MD Aktar Jamal Khan, Department of English, NU as members constituted the Inspection Team.
A welcome ceremony was held in the college auditorium which was attended by Heads of the various departments the college, management, teachers and students of the department. Delivering the welcome address, Fr. Dr. Sebastian Ousepparampil, principal of the college pointed out that in the life of an institution as in the life of an individual or a nation there are significant and meaningful and historic moments that make an institution to grow and change. And that SJC observed such a moment as we welcome the expert team from the university in the Josephites’ family. He further pointed out numerous compelling reasons why SJC is taking this step today.
James H.K, Head of the Department presented a brief highlight of the department profile, and he emphasized the need to have PG in the college pointing out that there are hardly three universities in the state to accommodate master students. The future of the youths is at stake.
Prof. Nigamananda Das addressed the gathering on behalf of the team and spoke of his positive prospect despite the rules and other criteria laid down by the university. The other highlights of the programme include invocation, welcome song, dance, special number and vote of thanks.
This was followed by presentation on the college profile, discussion and interaction with the team members in the conference hall. The team also visited all the necessary labs, classrooms, libraries and other important sites and also verification of the documents.
“The college is hopeful of positive outcome and response from the university,” stated a press release from the College.
