
Kohima, May 7 (MExN): A gymnasium has been established in the men’s hostel of Nagaland University Meriema Campus. Inaugurating the gym, Prof. RC Gupta, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University (NU) highlighted the importance of sports and physical exercises in present scenario.
Dr. N Venuh, Professor & Dean of School of Social Sciences, NU in his remarks stated that establishment of gymnasium will not only encourage the bodily exercises and physical health of student and staff but will also help to promote the community sports and healthy society.
A press release from Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon, Deputy Director Sports, NU informed that gym equipments such as multipurpose gymnasia machine, bench press (incline/decline), parallel bars, high lat pulley, dumbbell, shoulder press, leg press, and thigh squat press were installed by sports section of the university.
Student community led by Alokita V Awomi and hostel official thanked Prof. Pardeshi Lal, Vice Chancellor and P Zetsuvi, Dy. Director Sports, NU for taking proactive measures to uplift the sports infrastructure in the university, the release added.
