Lumami, August 23 (MExN): Nagaland University will host a two-day National Conference on “Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Resilience in North East India–2026” from October 6 to 7 under the theme “Strategies for a Sustainable Future”.
The brochure and flyer for the conference were released on August 21 by Nagaland University Vice-Chancellor Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik in the presence of members of the organising committee.
The conference is being organised by the Department of Environmental Science, Nagaland University, in collaboration with the Forest and Biodiversity Management in Himalaya (Nagaland) Project under the Nagaland State Biodiversity Board and Lemsachenlok, Longleng.
Speaking at the release, Patnaik highlighted the importance of biodiversity conservation and climate resilience, particularly in the ecologically sensitive North Eastern region. He said the conference would provide a platform for researchers, academicians, policymakers, conservation practitioners and students to deliberate on emerging environmental challenges and sustainable solutions.
Conference convener Prof Ashutosh Tripathi said the event would bring together experts and stakeholders from diverse disciplines to discuss strategies for biodiversity conservation and enhancing climate resilience. Eminent specialists and resource persons from different fields are expected to deliver lectures and share their expertise.
The conference is expected to facilitate knowledge exchange and collaborative efforts towards sustainable environmental management and policy development in the region.
Researchers, faculty members, students, government officials, NGOs and other stakeholders working in biodiversity conservation, environmental sustainability and climate change have been invited to participate.
The last date for abstract submission and conference registration is September 15.
