NU Women’s Studies Centre helps creating awareness on CHILDLINE 1098

Kohima, November 11 (MExN): The Women’s Studies Centre, Nagaland University organised a one day seminar on ‘Creating awareness about CHILDLINE 1098’ in Nagaland University, Kohima Campus on November 10.  

Resource person, Subonennba Longkumer, Nodal Director CHILDLINE Nagaland & Governing Board member, CHILDLINE India Foundation spoke in detail about the organisation and its functions. He also dwelled on the issue of children in difficult circumstances in Nagaland replete with case references. He stressed on the roles and functions of the Juvenile Justice (Care & protection of Child) Amendment Act 2006 & Rules 2007 and Child Welfare Committee.  

During the seminar, Prof RC Gupta, Pro Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus spoke on the global and national scenario of children. He stressed on the importance of nurturing the young minds by creating and leaving positive impressions in them. He dwelled on the genesis and the present status of the organisation and urged that it is not only the responsibility of the organisation alone but it is for everyone to contribute and support towards this noble cause stating that even if one cannot change the world, we can change the world of one person.  

During the Seminar a short film on child sexual abuse was screened followed by a vibrant interactive session. Director of Women’s Studies Centre, Prof. Buno Zetsuvi chaired the seminar. Seyievinuo Chüzo presented a special number. The seminar winded up with concluding remarks and vote of thanks by Petekhrienuo Sorhie, project Officer, WSC, NU.
