Kohima, July 5: Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, Deo Nukhu today inaugurated the much awaited Solomon House of Mount Olive College, Kohima.

Speaking on the occasion, Nukhu maintained that hard work, sincerity and discipline follow the path of success, which in turn facilitate  the building of a  society of progress and prosperity. To this effect, dignified means should be adopted to earn one's living instead of anti-social methods like many in the Naga society today are engaged in.

Lamenting that instead of searching for sound education and wisdom, many people are endeavoring only to  become rich by “short-cut”  and various other anti-social means, the Deputy Chairman urged the students' community to look for earning through dignified means to call  the income honest and hard-earned.

“If you are honest and sincere in whatever you do, there are ample opportunities to earn either by self-employment or getting into any business company. Many rich people and business companies are looking for honest, sincere and capable people,” he reminded the students.

“Today we are living in a competitive world and in a situation of survival of the fittest. As men and women to live for a successful future, nothing else can substitute hard work,” Nukhu said.He also reminded the gathering that that laziness has no place in today's competitive world.

Nukhu also stated that the students of today are the fortunate generation of the lot with the opportunity to harvest the “Look East Policy” of the Government of India.

“In your time, you are going to see the International Highway passing through you from Bangkok-Chiangmai-Myanmar-Northeast via Moreh,” he said adding that through such trade routes they can go to Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Singapore, Hongkong, Korea and so on.

Saying that the society is now living in the age of specialization, Deo urged  “Think of specializing in one thing or the other and opportunity will come to you. Your gift could be cooking, bakery, mechanic, plantation, writing, singing, sports helping, serving etc. No job is too big or too small. It depends on your interest and your ability.”

Deo also urged the students to do anything with the best of their abilities and discover their own gifts and develop the same through training and by practice.

Learning to do what you are good at can lead to a sense of job satisfaction, he also added.
