Longleng: The eighth International Nurses Day of Longleng district was held on May 12 at Medical Superintendent Office Longleng District under the theme, ‘A force a change-A vital resource for health.’
The guest speaker Dr. B Henshet Phom, Vice Principal Yingli College Longleng, in his speech said that International Nurses day is observed to pay respect to Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing and pioneer of public health service for the poor. “She raised the status of nurses from lowest to the noblest group of health professional, thus they also have the biggest responsibility for the health of the people all over the world as the issues of health is trans-frontier.”
He said, “Teaching and nursing are co-workers of God. Nursing is the holiest of women’s charities. Florence Nightingale infused spirituality into the profession of nursing. Thus, from being called hospital cleaner nurses were called “ministering angel” or guardian.” Nurses of the district were urged to get inspiration from the life of Florence Nightingale and to reaffirm their pledged to give their best possible service for the cause of health service in the land.
Mercy, ANM (Namching Sub-Centre) chaired the programme and Nyemphen (Pongo Sub-Centre) said the invocation. S. Ajong, Local TNAI President Nursing incharge District Hospital Longleng gave introductory speech. Dr. O. Kongyan, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Longleng delivered in his short speech urged all the doctors and nurses to remain united for the smooth functioning of District Hospital Longleng and for the wellbeing of public and patience.
Laje ANM (B. Namsang) delivered vote of thanks. Shuklong Phom retired staff Nursing said a short speech and led a prayer asking God’s Blessing and long life for all the nurses of the world. Lakba Pharmacist District Hospital Longleng ended the programme with a prayer.
