NUSU-KC oppose CAB

Kohima, January 27 (MExN): The Nagaland University Students’ Union, Kohima Campus (NUSU-KC) has shown support to various organizations and bodies on the issue of Citizenship Amendment Bill-CAB.

In a press release, NUSU-KC stated that “Government of the people, by the people, for the people should always be seen as a promise by the government to its people in a democracy.”

The Amendment Bill has sparked a feeling of resentment, not only from the political parties and individuals but also from civil societies, teachers associations, student bodies and many, especially in the Northeast states, the release stated.

The union asserted that in this turn of event the university students will not remain out of the picture when there is a “direct threat to our identity, our unique identity which makes us the Nagas, unique, the Northeast as special and India - unity in diversity."

The union urged the students, as individuals, as intellectuals and university students, as scholars to raise their voice and show their concern over the CAB. It reiterated that it is an invisible force that will have a negative impact not only over politics or government and people but, also on the entire intellectual societies in the near future.
