Tahamzam, January 14 (MExN): The Naga Women’s Union (NWU) has condemned the continued incarceration of UNC President Gaidon Kamei and Information & Publicity Secretary SK Stephen who were arrested on November 25, 2016. Terming the existing imbroglio as being “political” and not law and order related, the NWU in a press release from its Publicity Wing insisted that the issue can be settled “if the Government of Manipur has the political will to do so.” It argued that holding the UNC President and Information & Publicity Secretary as prisoners will not solve the crisis. “Rather, it will only aggravate the situation,” the union maintained and called upon the Government of Manipur to release the two at the earliest. Further extending its solidarity to the two incarcerated leaders, the NWU reminded the Manipur Government that it will be held responsible for any eventualities.
