TheNWVTI Emporium was inaugurated by I Meyionen Jamir, Chief Information Commissioner in the presence of T Rollee Varieshim, Sr Assistant Director (Handicraft), HSC-Kohima on December 5.

Dimapur, December 11 (MExN): The Nagaland Women Vocational Training Institute (NWVTI) Emporium at the Kohima-Imphal Road, near CRPF Camp, Lerie, Kohima was inaugurated by I Meyionen Jamir, Chief Information Commissioner in the presence of T Rollee Varieshim, Sr Assistant Director (Handicraft), HSC-Kohima on December 5.
A press release informed that the Emporium was funded by the office of the Development Commissioner (Handicaft), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and implemented by NWVTI.
On the occasion, Temjenlemla Jamir, Managing Director, NWVTI highlighted the skill training provided to the artisans and stated that the Emporium is a medium through which the artisans would earn livelihood in addition to preserving the rich handicrafts of Nagaland.
In his inaugural speech, I Meyionen Jamir highlighted the importance of the Emporium in preserving history, art, culture and tradition. He stated that the rich Naga heritage and culture embedded in the varied handicrafts is on the verge of extinction and we need to preserve them through the medium of the Emporium.
He lauded the DC (Handicraft), Ministry of Textiles, for funding the Emporium and also appreciated the NWVTI for taking the initiative to establish the Emporium. It will provide alternative sources of income for the young Nagas, he added.
According to the release, T Rollee Varieshim stated that the Emporium is the platform for the artisans of Nagaland to showcase the handicrafts of Nagaland at one-stop. The Emporium will act as a window of Naga culture, tradition, and handicraft for the tourists, he said, while maintaining that artisans from all over Nagaland will be benefitted through the Emporium.
Similarly, T Yanger Sor, State Awardee (Woodcraft) said that the Emporium would be a medium for the artisans of Nagaland to showcase and sell their products and appreciated NWVTI for implementing the project to assist the artisans.
The programme ended with vote of thanks by T Patoi Konyak, Master Trainer, NWVTI.
