NYA Futsal Tournament 6A Side concludes

DIMAPUR, JULY 11 (MExN): The Naharbari Youth Association (NYA) concluded its two days Futsal Tournament 6A Side. The event was held at Junkyard Turf Padumpukhuri with the motto ‘Unity Through Sport.’

The closing ceremony was graced by Guest of Honor Hekani Jakhalu Kense, Founder & Chair, YouthNet. Hekani stated that sports teaches five fundamental learnings that applies to being successful in life. These include leadership, team building, setting goals, staying focused and with perseverance. 

She stated that young people in Nagaland though talented are easily distracted and inconsistent and encouraged especially the young players to apply the same fundamentals they learn in football in their own professional lives. She encouraged young people to avail opportunities and get access to information through the youth resources centre that YouthNet is setting up with Naharbari Youth Association. 

She also lauded NYA for the initiative in bringing young people together and organising such an event which brings unity, friendship, fitness and positively engaging the youth. She encouraged the NYA to make it an annual event which YouthNet will continue to collaborate and support in the future as well.

Native Feathers raised the Champions Cup and Dimapur FC as runners up while the best goalkeeper and highest scorer’s were Ngamsi (NF) and Apu (DFC).

Earlier in the semi finals, Native feathers managed to scrape through to the finals with 1-0 win against Rubo FC. In the second semi finals Dimapur FC edge past Red Scars with a 2-0 win. However in the finals Native Feathers beat Dimapur FC with a comfortable 3-1 win.

An extra cash bonus of Rs 10,000 was awarded to the winning teams and Rs 1000 each to individual prizes making it Rs 70,000, 40,000 and 3500 respectively.
