Dimapur, April 13 (MExN): The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Nagaland Zone organised State Level Youth Convention 2013 on April 12 at LCS building, Kohima. Madiraju Lokeswara Rao IFS, Addl Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Nagaland, inaugurated the programme.
The chief guest in his speech called upon the youth to participate in environmental issues and said, “Youths are the strength and powerhouse of the Nation. Since the State is largely dependent on forest based economy there is a concern for conserving forest and its biodiversity, as there could be even a chance in future to sell surplus Oxygen to developed countries.”
Dr. P. Ngully, Chairman, KRIPA Foundation, Kenneth Punyu Associate Professor, Kohima Science College and Avelu Ruho, NCS, SDO (Civil) Secu-Zubza were three members expert panelists of the Convention. The need for creation of multi- purpose resource centre in every districts for trainings, awareness, need for talent based sport infrastructure in rural areas etc were discussed at length with the panelists.
John Makhabo, DYC delivered welcome address while keynote address by Kh. Ibohanbi Singh Zonal Director, NYKS Nagaland Zone. Ruokuovikho Chale, chaired the programme while Pukil Kintso proposed vote of thanks.
Around 100 youths from different districts participated in the programme where Rongsennukshi of Mokokchung, Chingmei of Mon, Shikatoli V of Zunheboto, N. Wongto of Tuensang, Visakolie of Dimapur George of Kohima gave a presentation on youth related issues of their respective districts. This was stated in a press release issued by Kh.
