NZPO appreciates Commissioner Nagaland’s decision

Peren, August 25 (MExN): The Nagaland Zeliang People’s Organisation (NZPO) today expressed appreciation to Commissioner Nagaland for what it termed as the “judicious decision” of acknowledging the “genuine Landownership claim of the Lamhai Village over erstwhile Kiyevi Village” in an order dated August 20.

The order releasing the damage compensation to the “structure owners of the illegal residents of the erstwhile Kiyevi Village” made it clear that that the “release of the damage compensation is without prejudice to any claims/counter claims over the landownership issue that may arise in future,” as per the NZPO.

The August 20 order is in the line with the written demand submitted by the Lamhai Village Council’s August 18 letter to the Deputy Commissioner, Peren, on which date latter, Peren, summoned the village Council for consultation regarding the village objection to release of the damage compensation, stated a press release from the NZPO President Kevipele Iheilung. It was release with the condition that they vacate the land upon receipt of the compensation, it claimed.

Accordingly, the NZPO proclaimed that  the expansion and development of the Lamhai Namdi Village comprising of members of other Naga tribes “shall continue unabated in the traditional land of the Lamhai Village in the vicinity and beyond of the Kiyevi Village up to the river Teihaiki or Khovaru which is the traditional boundary of Lamhai Village with Chümuokedima.”

Any opposition to the expansion and development on its own land by “any illegal encroachers shall not be tolerated,” it added.
