Office attendance in Secretariat improves

KOHIMA, MAY 29 (DIPR): The Secretaries and Heads of Departments (HODs) monthly meeting on May 26 held at the Secretariat Conference Hall took note that attendance in the Secretariat has improved after the latest strictures were imposed though some areas of discrepancies are to be corrected and improved. It was also suggested that the same strictures may be used in Directorates to improve attendance. For improving the work culture in the Directorates, the Chief Secretary further suggested that the Director and Senior Officers convene meetings of the staff to motivate and activate them.

The State Chief Secretary, Lalhuma, Principal Secretary (Home), Banuo Z Jamir and several senior officials also voiced concern on the reports of absence of officers in their places of postings in the districts during the meeting.

After detailed discussion on the issue the Chief Secretary instructed all Directors/HODs not to call field officers to the Directorate unless it is unavoidable and when the officers have to be called, to do so in writing with copies endorsed to the concerned DC/ADC and head of Administrative Department.

Directors and Secretaries of the concerned Department were further instructed to work out the best strategy suited to the concerned Department to ensure that district officers and other field officers are stationed in their places of posting. It was also suggested that the Video Conferencing facility provided by NIC be used more frequently to keep in touch with the district officials.

Saying that tours to Delhi are very expensive, the Chief Secretary opined that unnecessary tours there should be avoided. He said that many tours can be avoided by briefing the Principal Resident Commissioner at New Delhi who is competent to represent the Government and the various Departments in various programmes, meetings etc.

The Chief Secretary further instructed Secretaries to submit their tour notes to the Chief Ministers Office and Chief Secretary and HoDs to submit their notes to their respective Secretaries when they complete tours to New Delhi.

Meanwhile, giving a power point presentation, Commissioner & Secretary, Power, Temjen Toy explained to the gathering where the State stands in regards to power and appealed to all to use their good offices to spread awareness on necessity of power conservation and timely payment of bills to ensure regular power supply specially during the forthcoming FIFA World Cup.

Team Leader, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, Norman Putsure also made a Power Point presentation highlighting the activities of the Agency and the tremendous resources the State has in bamboo which is found abundantly all over Nagaland.

Director General, ESIC, Ministry of Labour, Government of India, R S Singh who also attended the meeting urged the Government of Nagaland to avail the benefits offered by the Employees State Insurance Corporation while highlighting the benefits offered by it though a slides presentation.
