Officials trained for People's Plan Campaign ahead of GPDP 2026-27

Dimapur, July 5 (MExN): The Department of Rural Development, through the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) covering Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland, conducted a district-level training programme on the People's Plan Campaign (PPC) for the preparation of the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) for the financial year 2026-27. 

The training was held at the DRDA Conference Hall in Dimapur on July 3.

Delivering the keynote address, DRDA Dimapur Project Director Limameren Yaden said the Gram Panchayat Development Plan forms the foundation for inclusive and sustainable rural development.

He urged all line departments to actively participate in the planning process and work closely with Gram Panchayats and frontline workers to prepare realistic, need-based and people-centric development plans.

The programme began with a welcome address by West Dimapur Block Development Officer Jacob Zeliang, who highlighted the importance of coordinated planning and active participation by all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the GPDP process.

The technical session was conducted by District Programme Manager, Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), Bichano Humtsoe, who explained the objectives and framework of the People's Plan Campaign and the process for preparing the Gram Panchayat Development Plan.

She underscored the importance of community participation and the role of line departments in providing technical support and sector-specific inputs to ensure that development plans reflect the priorities and aspirations of rural communities.

The training also stressed coordinated efforts among stakeholders to prepare inclusive, need-based and sustainable development plans for every Gram Panchayat.

Officials from 12 line departments attended the programme, reflecting the government's focus on convergence and coordinated planning for holistic rural development.

Participants discussed measures to strengthen inter-departmental collaboration for the effective preparation and implementation of Gram Panchayat Development Plans at the grassroots level.

The Department of Rural Development appreciated the participation of the line departments and reiterated that the success of the People's Plan Campaign depends on the collective efforts of all stakeholders in preparing comprehensive and realistic development plans.

The department also reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating effective planning and convergence among departments for the successful implementation of GPDPs during the 2026-27 financial year.
