Old Dhansiri Bridge closure: Traffic Police issues advisory

Dimapur, January 13 (MExN): Following the closure of Old Dhansiri Bridge for re-construction since January 9, 2017, the Dimapur Traffic Police has announced again that all vehicular traffic on that route is closed round the clock.   For smooth flow of traffic, the exit of vehicles from Walford to New Dhansiri Bridge via Lorna School junction is prohibited. However, entry from Lorna School junction towards Walford is allowed, according to a press release from Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur.   Owing to the heavy traffic on the routes from Purana Bazar to Tragopan Point, commuters have been encouraged to use the arterial route connecting Nagarjan to 3rd Mile.   Meanwhile, pillion riders on two wheelers have been asked to use helmets compulsorily, adding that defaulters will be penalized.   “With the increasing volume of vehicular traffic compounded by various repair works, inconvenience to the commuters is eminent. The Dimapur Traffic Police is trying its level best to minimize these inconveniences and ensure smooth flow of traffic along all the routes,” the press release said. Commuters have been requested to co-operate with the Traffic Police personnel by obeying traffic rules and also assist by following single lane driving along narrow stretches and avoid overtaking.
