Old road overbridge to likely open on Feb 2

The old overbridge in Dimapur will likely reopen to traffic on February 2, Sunday, after overshooting the completion deadline by a month. The oldest bridge, overpassing the rail track in Dimapur, was shut off for three months beginning on October 1, 2024 to undergo major repairs after decades of neglect. 

On January 30, workers were giving the final touches, giving the deck a new coat of asphalt.  

The Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang, told The Morung Express, on Thursday evening that workers were targetting to complete blacktopping by January 31. Citing the Project Manager for the repair work, the DC informed that the construction firm will be obtaining clearance certificate from the PWD (National Highways) after completing the black-topping. 

Innovative Construction, the construction firm, was contracted for the repair work. The repair of the over decades old bridge cost an estimated Rs 2.6 cr.
