Oldest man of Khütsami village passes away

Phek, July 16 (MExN): Khütsami Students’ Union has expressed shock over the demise of Dusho Swüro, the oldest man in Khütsami village, on July 14 after a prolonged illness. He was 103 years old.  

Son of late Yotsoyi Swüro, Dusho was born in 1914. He was appointed as the first Panchayat Chairman in 1956 by A.Z Phizo during his first visit to the village, according to a condolence message from Verazo Nyekha, President, Khütsami Students’ Union. He then became the judicial member in 1957, served as Rüna Peyu in 1969, Village Council Chairman in 1980, Deacon in 1990-1992, and GB in 1993-1994.  

“We remember him as a man of great courage, lover of education, with great personality and elderly wisdom who always encouraged the younger generation to be honest and fear God,” the condolence message read. “The contributions made by late Dusho Swüro during his lifetime in different capacities will be remembered by us.”  

t further acknowledged that in his death, the people of Khütsami and the students’ community in particular have lost one of the most prominent leaders.

The Khütsami Students’ Union further conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that God will grant them solace and comfort.
