Former minister, Deo Nukhu seen with village leaders, teachers & others during the commemoration of 75 years of GPS Zhavame on September 5.

The oldest school in Zhavame village under Phek district—Government Primary School, Zhavame which was established on April 1, 1947 commemorated 75 years of its existence on September 5, 2022 coinciding with Teachers’ Day at Pame Tsüdu, Zhavame under the theme ‘Reflecting forward.’
In his message, Former Minister, Deo Nukhu who graced the occasion as the special guest extended his sincere gratitude to all the past pioneers and congratulated all the present teachers in the village. “It is quite befitting that the auspicious occasion is being observed on ‘Teachers’ Day’ which falls on the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – a philosopher, scholar and great teacher,” he said.
Recalling that way back in 1958, he was also a student of Class B in the same school, he also greeted all the alumni who received their basic educational background from GPS Zhavame. Further extending his gratitude to all the teachers, students, Village Council, VDB, Women Society, Youth Society and all the well-wishers for their cooperation and support for the cause of education under the theme – ‘Reflecting Forward,’ he also gave thanks to the Almighty God for showering his amazing grace upon the village.
In its platinum souvenir published to mark the celebration, the committee also noted that the GPS, Zhavame will always stand as a turning point and hallmark in the history of Zhavame village for laying the foundation of education for many people in Razeba area. It also stated hope that the school will stand as a beacon of hope and continue to produce many capable leaders and impart education for prosperity.
The souvenir was formally released by the special guest. Highlights of the event included invocation by Rev Akha Shupao, Pastor, ZBC, greetings by Zao Krocha, Village Chairman and Bunyi Zholia, Headmaster, GHS Razeba, brief history of the school by Thekho Shupao, Teacher-in-charge, GPS ‘A’ Zhavame, short sharing by Darhü Shupao, Alumni & Joint Secretary, Nagaland Legislative Assembly and C. Charles Krocha, Head Teacher, GMS Zhavame, Acknowledgement by Visapa Movi, Vice President, Chakhesang Students’ Union, Vote of thanks by Rokovi Movi, President, Zhavame Students’ Union, and benediction by Dakhru Rhi, Pastor, CRC. The programme was chaired by Medovi Rhi, Secretary, Education, Naga Students’ Federation. Earlier, there was unveiling of monolith and horn blowing by Rhipri Domeh.
