Dimapur, May 16 (MExN): Upcoming singer Omekali H Chishi is all set to release her debut album ‘Destiny’ featuring four original songs and four cover songs.
The songs are recorded at Tribes Music & Media Lab, Dimapur, and produced by Vikali A Zhimomi, managing director of Cellar Trade Agency (CTA) with Alem Alia Jr of Tribes Music as music director.

The original songs include “Destiny”, “Return”, “For what you have done” and “With you” and the cover songs are “Don’t stop believing” (Journey), “New Kid in town” (Eagles), “Imagine” (John Lennon) and “Can’t fight this feeling” (Reo Speedwagon).

Omekali said the lyrics of title song “Destiny” was written by her aunt Vikali who is also producer of the album. “Sometimes I dream at night/And it takes me to places far away/I wish that it would never end/trapped in a world of techni-coloured fantasies”, goes the song.

“Music is my passion and this song has special meaning for me as it is about pursuing and fulfilling one’s dream”, said the 19-year-old artiste who has just enrolled herself to study Bachelor of Music at Patkai Christian College.

Vikali said “Destiny” is a song of hope and about chasing one’s dream no matter the odds. “I hope this song will inspire all of us to pursue our dreams and goals”, she added.
Alem said the cover songs in the album are all vintage songs and with Omekali’s ‘unique’ voice, music lovers will be delighted to go down memory lane of the old hits.

Omekali’s “unique and melodious” voice got noticed when she first sang the song “Shepherd of soul” in a local church when she was six years old. “Soon she was flooded with request to sing the same song in different local churches”, said her aunt Vikali who played the guitar for Omekali those days. Since then the niece-aunt duo have come a long way and they are excited about the release of the album, scheduled on May 27.
