Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): One person was arrested by the Dimapur Police on September 8 for illegal possession of rhino horn.
The seizure was made following specific input on a rhino horn being sold for Rs 45 lakh, Dimapur Police PRO informed on Thursday.
In the operation, the accused identified as Peter Lotha (36) at first attempted to escape but was arrested after a hot chase. He was arrested from Duncan Basti in Dimapur.
The horn which weighed 440 grams and 27 cm long was found concealed inside a dark brown bag.
A case has been registered in West Police Station under the Wild Life Protection Act, Prevention of Damage of Public Property Act and relevant sections of the IPC.
