DIMAPUR, MAY 27 (MExN): In a third such incident this month, one person was shot and critically wounded in Dimapur by armed assailants on May 27. According to sources, a GPRN/NSCN functionary in the rank of ‘joint secretary’ identified as Kakheto K. Sumi was shot in the arm and stomach by suspected NSCN (K) cadres. His condition was said to be serious with a bullet lodged in the stomach and a broken arm. The incident occurred around 3:30 pm at a garage between Diphupar Village Gate and the Central Jail junction, NH 29. The victim was apparently at the garage to repair his vehicle when the assailants came in a car and fired upon him, the sources said. The assailants then drove away. A second person, who was said to be the victim’s attendant escaped unhurt.
