One person was killed and four others were wounded in a blast in Dimapur on September 8. The incident occurred around 2:00 pm at United North Block – B, Burma Camp.

The deceased victim was a metal scrap collector, who was reportedly handling an explosive device, suspected to be a World War II mortar shell. According to the Dimapur police, the victim was reportedly unaware and was hammering it when it went off.

The blast killed him and injured four others in the adjacent hutment. The injured included a woman, an infant and two male individuals.
