Kohima: The One Man Inquiry report on the killing of Peter Yimchunger by ADC (J) Mokokchung Khalong’s bodyguards has been forwarded to the office of the Chief Secretary, P Talitemjen Ao. Confirming this, the head of the State’s official machinery said that some clarifications on the report were still awaited. He said that some details were yet to be added.
A reliable source revealed that the report had been submitted within two days of the One Man Inquiry’s institution. The absolute compilation of the report is likely to be completed on September 29. Reports have stated that witnesses’ accounts and available statements had been taken during the course of the inquiry. Photographs depicting the scenes related to the incident had also been analyzed, according to sources. Reports have also indicated that opposing versions to the incident had been delivered.
A top bureaucrat, on condition of anonymity said, “It is a fact that the accident happened. “It is a fact that the bus was stationary when the incident occurred. “It is a fact that blank firing had taken place as a result of which an unfortunate bullet had inflicted death.” The source further said that the Government would reach upon a decision after scrutinizing the report. One may recall, in such cases, investigations are carried out at a very slow pace. Assam Police are putting pieces together in order to solve the purported murder case.
Meanwhile, the Yimchungru College Students’ Union, through a press release, has appealed to the Government of Nagaland to bring out justice in the case as called for by the different NGOs.
