
DIMAPUR, MAY 19 (MExN): The Directorate of Soil and Water Conservation has informed on the onset of the south west monsoon in the State. A press release from the directorate stated that the south-west monsoon comes at the time when part of the State was experiencing high maximum temperature.
In the last five days, the temperature of the State recorded an average maximum temperature of 24.2°C, while minimum temperature hovered at 16.3°C. The highest temperature of 37.0°C was recorded at Jalukie station on May 17 and the lowest minimum temperature of 10.6°C was reported at Zunheboto station on May 15.
Total accumulative rainfall of 845.9mm was recorded over different stations. Highest rainfall of 46.0mm (moderate rainfall) was reported on May 15 at Meluri station. Chief amount of rainfall in the last 24 hours was recorded as 138mm in the State. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its weather bulletin said that light to moderate widespread of rainfall with thunderstorm and gusty wind is likely to continue in the State for the next few days.
