We the public of Dhanshirpar area write this letter to the BSNL expressing our discontent and indignation over the recent digging of cable lines along the newly constructed road leading to Dhanshirpar from Nagarjan. The public of this area has suffered the miserable road condition for decades resulting in hardships for school and college students, years of dust causing lung illness and even loss of lives due to non-availability of transportation when emergency situation arose. The newly paved road is not even 6 months old and now the BSNL has destroyed the long awaited road. Let the high-ranking officials come and inspect the following:
1. While digging, the tractor had cut telephone cable lines and we were left without phones for nearly a month.
2. Your tractor while digging along the road has caused scraping off the surface of the road to cause the beginnings of potholes and erosion to the paved road. Also, the stones on the sides are dug out thereby making the road unstable.
3. Earth dug out is not properly cleared. Moreover, the filled up earth is loose causing car and trucks to sink while giving sides to another vehicle.
4. The road is narrower now due to your bad workmanship.
5. The workers are careless and do not exhibit professionalism. For example, earth tugged out is still collected in batches creating a mess and plenty of dust.
We feel that the concerned government department and the contractors of the newly constructed road should take BSNL to court and pay for the damages caused. We are sure that the contractors have a “guarantee period” to the Government of Nagaland. BSNL has destroyed your works. Also, the concerned department should come and inspect what the BSNL has done.
BSNL has done more of destroying to our State than develop. Look at our roads where BSNL has dug across roads and do not even bother filling it and repair. In some cases, collected and piled up earth along national highways has resulted in serious accidents causing deaths. It is high time that the Government of Nagaland see that BSNL should not be a menace and destroyer of public property.
We therefore, request the BSNL to immediately repair all damages caused to the newly constructed road between Dhanshirpar and Nagarjan. We are giving you two weeks.
