
Kohima, October 8 (MExN): The National Oral Health Programme, Kohima district organised a training and awareness programme on the importance of oral health for school teachers at Government Middle School, Keyake. The programme aimed to educate and equip teachers with knowledge of oral health and hygiene, a DIPR report stated.
Dr Mhonsenli Yanthan began the session with a brief introduction to oral health and hygiene, setting the foundation for the day's discussions. Dr Noyingbeni Khuvung delivered an elaborate PowerPoint presentation on common oral diseases, providing valuable insights into their prevention and management.
Dr Simon I Sumi, District Oral Health Officer emphasised the detrimental effects of tobacco on oral health. He also demonstrated the proper tooth-brushing technique, ensuring that the teachers had a practical understanding of maintaining good oral hygiene. An interactive session with the teachers allowed them to ask questions and clarify doubts.
A total of 15 teachers participated in the programme. Khriesavilie Solo, Head Teacher of GMS Keyake was the chair and vote of thanks was delivered by Imlimenla, Assistant Head Teacher of GMS Keyake. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, and informative materials (IEC materials) were distributed to further support and encourage proper oral care practices.
