
Dimapur, July 17 (MExN): The Naga People’s Organization (NPO) has lauded Dr. Wati Aier, Principal, Oriental Theological Seminary (OTS), Dimapur on being awarded the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) Human Right Award in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia recently.
“Such rare accolade is well-deserved for a leader and missionary who have initiated a historical reconciliation among the warring Naga factions. The immense contribution of Dr. Wati Aier for the Nagas especially during the crucial days of Indo-Naga peace process has revived hope to the Nagas,” the NPO said in a press note.
It has expressed “extreme gratitude” to the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) for awarding Dr.Wati Aier, Convener, Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), the NPO wishes and pray that, Dr. Aier may continue to live long with good health and wisdom. Such remarkable achievements of Dr.Aier manifest the sacrifices and efforts rendered for the cause of the Nagas.
Also, in a separate note, the Nagaland Gorkha Association on behalf of all Gorkhas of Nagaland has heartily congratulated Dr. Wati Aier, Convenor, Forum for Naga Reconciliation, on his being awarded the prestigious 2011 Baptist World Alliance (BWA) Denton & Janice Lotz Human Rights Award at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 9.
His spearheading the movement of Naga Reconciliation: A Journey of Common Hope, for all who want to follow the path of peace, unity and reconciliation stands out as the voice of sanity in a world, which is very deeply infested with mistrust, hatred and loss of human values. Dr.Wati and his dedicated team's selfless work in ushering in Naga Reconciliation is indeed an example that is to be emulated all over the world where there are conflict situations.
The NGA firmly believes that his movement will bring in a lasting peace in the very near future and his team's dedicated work will be very rewarding for all times to come.
Further, the Eastern Nagaland Students' Union Delhi (ENSUD) congratulated Dr. Rev. Wati Aier on being awarded ' The Baptist World Alliance Denton and Janice Lotz Human Rights Award'.
The ENSUD in a press note has expressed deep admiration to Dr. Rev. Wati Aier and his colleagues for their faith and shouldering the responsibility of bringing reconciliation among the different Naga National groups and the Nagas in general, through the FNR.
“It is regretful that the prolonged conflicts among ourselves have delayed the evolution of the political solution and the emergence of the Nagas at the higher threshold of civilization as people with common hope and aspirations. We believe that only true reconciliation can redeem the history of the Nagas. Unless we are reconciled, we cannot join the world community at large as one people. We pray and hope that the support and the prayers of the Baptist World Alliance will invoke the moral obligations and sincere commitment among the different Naga political groups, to be reconciled and take the path of hope to live in brotherhood and sisterhood,” the note stated.
