Dimapur, July 28 (MExN): Condolences have poured in from various organisations following the demise of Arthur Edward, founder of Livingstone Foundation International, Dimapur.
The Naga People's Front (NPF) Central Minority Wing expressed profound grief over his passing, describing him as a visionary educationist and social worker whose commitment to quality education, character building and nation-building transformed the lives of countless students across the Northeast.
"The remarkable legacy of Edward will continue to inspire generations to come," the NPF Central Minority Wing said in a condolence message.
It extended sympathies to the bereaved family, the management, faculty, students, alumni and the entire Livingstone Foundation International community, and prayed for strength and comfort for them during the difficult time.
The Linguistic Minority Forum of Nagaland (LMFN) also mourned the demise of Sir Arthur Edwards, stating that he was closely associated with linguistic minorities and permanent settlers of Dimapur.
LMFN Chairman Bishnu Bhattacharjee said Edward was a respected senior citizen whose constructive discussions, wise counsel and concern for the welfare of all Dimapurians, irrespective of community, earned him admiration from people across sections.
"He firmly believed in diversity, peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and the spirit of brotherhood, and consistently encouraged harmony among all communities," Bhattacharjee said.
The forum said his legacy of inclusiveness, compassion and commitment to peace and communal harmony would continue to inspire future generations.
The Nagaland Medicine Dealers Association (NMDA) also expressed grief over the passing away of Edward, describing him as a veteran and respected citizen of Dimapur.
The association said Edward was the founder of Breeze Bakery and Restaurant, one of the earliest and most loved establishments in Dimapur, and had contributed significantly to business, education and social service.
NMDA said he was also the guardian of its president Ato Yepthomi, and that his guidance, wisdom and blessings had been a source of strength to the president and the NMDA family.
"A pillar of Dimapur has fallen. His contribution to business, education and social service will always be remembered," the association said.
