Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur organized orientation classes for newly admitted class 11 Science, Arts and Commerce students from May 30 to June 2.
A press release from the school informed that the classes focused on scientific aptitude, importance of science in the post modern age, why science education is important, how to study science systematically, importance of humanities in day to day life, education for livelihood, and life for life. The resource persons used PowerPoint presentations and audio visual clippings.
Principal Fr. PS Varghese summarized to the students about the institution. He informed that MGOS Church started the school in 1982 in a humble way and after 35 years the school now has grown to a higher secondary level and offers Science, Arts, and Commerce streams.
It was informed that St. Thomas Mission Society also recently started MGM College to provide quality higher education to its students.
MGM Higher Secondary School registered under the society is taking keen interest in quality education by even providing different scholarships, the principal further informed. For example, if three children from same family are studying in the school, one will get half fee concession, while economically weaker students will get concession in tuition fees. There is also free education for topper, Mar Theodosius Meritorious scholarship for rank holders and toppers of class Nursery to higher secondary, KV Ponnan meritorious scholarship for term exam toppers etc.
Meanwhile, Varghese reminded the students to be disciplined, regular, and systematic throughout the academic year. He encouraged the students to keep away from all bad habits like eating tobacco products and even chewing gum. The MGM school and college are recognized as Tobacco Free institutions by the authorities, he informed.
