OSTD waives off one month rent for Ongpangkong Ki-housing tenants

Dimapur, May 2 (MExN): Bringing relief to the tenants of Ongpangkong Ki-housing complex during the nationwide lockdown, Ongpangkong Senso Telongjem, Dimapur (OSTD) has waived off the house rent for the month of April.
Ongpangkong Ki, a residential housing complex is jointly managed by Ongpangkong Senso Tejongjem Dimapur and Ongpangkong Watsu Tejongjem, which is located at Zeliangrong village. The building houses eight families, mostly daily wage earners and one private girls’ hostel.
Since the Union could not provide any assistance to the tenants during this crucial period, it agreed to waive off the house rent for the month of April to give some relief to tenants, president, Temsupok Jamir said.
The caretaker of the housing complex, L Wapang Pongen expressed gratitude to the Union for providing much needed relief to the tenants during the lockdown period.
The tenants thanked the Union for their sacrifice and noble gesture to help the people in distress.
Earlier on March 29, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had issued an order which stops landlords from demanding rent from students, workers and migrant labourers for a month.
