Longleng, May 12 (MExN): The District Hospital Longleng celebrated the 14th International Nurses Day under the theme ‘Our Nurses, Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economics’ at the hospital premises on May 12. It was organised by the MS Office, District Hospital Longleng.

During the programme, the recitation of the Nightingale Pledge was led by Kasa, reaffirming the nurses’ commitment to compassionate care, stated a press release received here.

In a short speech, Khono Yhome, Assistant Nursing Superintendent, highlighted the selfless dedication and enduring spirit of nurses, especially in the face of modern-day healthcare challenges.

“Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system,” said Yhome. “They work day and night, often under immense pressure, yet with unmatched dedication and compassion. Sadly, their voices often go unheard, their contributions unrecognized, and their needs unmet — leading many to experience burnout, stress, and fatigue.”

She emphasised that the theme of the year is a call for real action — to provide nurses with safe working conditions, mental health support, and proper recognition. “When nurses are supported, we build stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities,” she added.

A special prayer for nurses was led by N Tenhau Phom, Associate Pastor for Youth, LTBC.
