‘Akumlir Longkong’ (Mortal Trails) launched

Padmashree T Senka Ao released his 14th book ‘Akumlir Longkong’ (Mortal Trails) at Eden Academy, Kumlong ward, Mokokchung on Wednesday. The book was released by Metsubo Jamir, Minister, Rural Development, Government of Nagaland and published by Woods Publishers.

Dr Temjen Jamir, Chairman, ASLB, while giving a brief thanksgiving note congratulated the author for the release of the new book. He said that we take books very lightly and assume that we can easily write a book but not everyone can write. He said that it needs talent and dedication to write a book and the author has dedicated his whole life to writing.

He also said that the author is a blessing for the people because he is the lone Padmashree winner in literature in tribal language from North East and that his books are always written in an innovative approach with deep research.

Helen Jamir, former Principal, Fazl Ali College gave a brief statement on the life and works of the author stating that the author is a creative writer who has written 107 short stories. In the review of the book ‘Akumlir Longkong’ she informed that the book has 23 short stories which are based on true stories, stories with morals and stories with life's lessons.

During the official release of the book the author,  T Senka Ao said that he wrote the book during the two year COVID-19 pandemic and thanked everyone who helped him in the publishing his new book.

Metsubo Jamir, while releasing the book said that some people seek for power, some seek for wealth, some work for changes in the world while there are people who T Senka Ao who writes for the people with no glory or honour. He said that he feels humbled after listening to the life and works of the author.

He also spoke on the importance of language and said that many village dialects are on the verge of extinction. He also said that when we speak too many language there is a problem because if there are too many languages there will be no unity.

He also said that when we migrate to other towns and districts we tend to compromise our culture because we tend to lose our language. “Generation will come and go but our language should remain and parents need to work on teaching our children,” he said.

He further thanked the author for all his contributions and urged the people to celebrate his life and works.
