The Mon District Education department celebrated National Science Day 2018 under the theme ‘Science & Technology for a Sustainable Future’ sponsored by Department of Science & Technology, Nagaland on May 8 at GHSS Mon with Thavaseelan K, IAS, DC Mon as the chief guest.
Speaking to the young minds, the DC urged the students to be able to decide what they want to do in their life. He said that high school and secondary stage is the time when mistakes can be made but also can be recovered. He asked the students to make best friend with time and to be able to use time effectively. He encouraged them to work hard today so that they can enjoy the fruits of their hard work tomorrow.
To mark the National Science Day celebration, painting and speech competition was conducted for the students of three GHSS on the given theme. In painting competition, Rhonkai Konyak, GHSS Mon, Yeangkim, GHSS Mon and Panglem, GHSS Mon emerged as the first, second and third respectively. In speech competition, Rachael, GHSS Mon, Chumei GHSS Mon and K. Mathom, GHSS-D emerged as the first, second and third respectively. The winners were given away a cash prize and a merit certificate.
