The tampered parcels which reached its destination in a tampered condition with some of the items missing.
Dimapur, June 8 (MExN): Parcels couriered via Post reached the destination with some of the items missing. The parcels were sent from Pune to Dimapur. The recipient, who went to collect the parcels at the Post Office located at Circular Road, Dimapur on Saturday, was shocked to notice the parcels (three cartons containing clothes and books) were torn open and some of the items missing.
According to the recipient, G. Kits, former Dimapur Municipal Council member, the parcels were sent by his daughter from Pune. Expressing resentment over the negligence of the Postal department, Kits said that it was not the first time he had received parcels sent by post in similar conditions. Only a few days back he had experienced a similar incident, he added. If the Postal department cannot properly handle parcels couriered through their services in good faith, it is better they stop their services, he further added.
Officials at the Post Office, on the other hand said that the parcels were received in a tampered condition and as required by protocol they had put ‘remarks’ stating thus.
