Parliamentary committee on Naga political issue reconstituted

Kohima, June 16 (MExN): The Parliamentary Committee on Naga political issue comprising of all the 60 members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, and the 2 Members of Parliament from Nagaland has been reconstituted.

According to a notification issued by Nagaland Chief Secretary J Alam on June 16, the committee will be headed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as Convenor and Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition TR Zeliang as Co-Convenors.

Neiba Kronu, Minister, Planning &Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs has been named the Member Secretary while members of the Committee include all Ministers/Advisors/Members of Parliament/MLAs.

The Parliamentary Committee shall discuss matters relating to the Naga Political issue and play the role of facilitator in the ongoing peace talks between the Government of India and the Naga Political Groups, according to the notification.
