Participatory rural appraisal exercise on JJM at Sangphur village

Dimapur, August 8 (MExN): A participatory rural appraisal (PRA) exercise on the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) was conducted at Sangphur Village, Shamator Block and Chessore Block by the Implementation Support Agency (ISA) Alongphi WELFARE SOCIETY under PHED Tuensang Division on August 4.

According to a delayed press release from the District Coordinator for PHED Tuensang Division on Sunday, during the programme, DWSM Chemist & District Coordinator, PHED Tuensang Division N Sangtam spoke about the objectives of JJM which is based on community approach towards water supply strategy launched by the Ministry of Jal Shakti. The mission aims to provide functional water tap connection to every household with service level at the rate of 55 (lpcd) litres per capita per day by 2024. In the JJM scheme, every school and Anganwadi center should also be covered with pipeline connections for water supply, he added. 

The importance of Field Testing Kits (FTK) was highlighted and the roles and responsibility of 5 women who will be selected in every village to ensure water quality surveillance at the village level was also sensitized, as per the press release.

JE for Shamator Block & Chessore  Block, Er Lanu spoke about the importance of community participation in order to make JJM a success in the village. The PRA exercise was conducted by Secretary of Implementation Support Agency (ISA) Alongphi Welfare Society, C Meren with 27 persons comprising of village council members, WATSAN Committee members, ASHA workers, etc., it added.
