Patkai relief team visits Karbi

Dimapur: With fresh violence still continuing in the strife torn Karbi Anglong district, a relief team of 38 students led by a counselor, Khrieketu from Red Cross Society, Patkai unit along with some members of Baptist Youth Fellowship visited the relief camps at Karbi Anglong on October 31. The team visited four camps hosting hundreds of Karbi victims and had interactions with them. 

According to reports received here, it may be mentioned that ¾ of the refugees at the relief camps are children between the age group of 2 to 12 years. The Patkai unit contributed 250 kgs of rice, 50 kgs Dal, 50 kgs salt and four cartons of biscuits. 

In this connection, the Red Cross Society, Patkai Unit has expressed its gratitude to Hekali Zhimomi (IAS), DC Dimapur and Bei-u Angami, ADC Dimapur for providing transportation for the team. 

The Patkai unit also thanked Kaholi Sema for her generosity and willingness to help the students and the ‘Patkai Family’, staff and faculty and the students for their generous contribution without which the trip would have been unsuccessful. 

The four relief camps cramped with hundreds of people and villages:
1.     Rangponghom Higher Secondary School. -      {Total no. of people- 681 (16 villages)}
2.     Basic Training Center - {Total no. of people- 981 (15 villages)}
3.     Dav Higher Secondary School - { Total no. of people - 846 (18 villages)}
4.     Diphu Government College - {Total no. of people- 1720 (28 villages)}
