Dimapur | March 4

The BJP was yet to make a public statement two days after the declaration of the results on March 4. But the silence was not without lobbying, pertaining to allocation of Cabinet berths, behind the scenes.

While the party’s units in Kohima, Phek, Tseminyu and Peren lobbied for Er Kropol Vitsu (15 Southern Angami-II) as a Cabinet member, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on March 4.

The purpose of the meeting remained unknown but sources said that Patton would retain the BJP Legislature Party leadership as well as Deputy CM post. Meanwhile, other sources said that the Nagaland BJP President, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer was slated to meet the party high command in Delhi.
