Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton today said that a total of 1698 posts/vacancies have arisen due to retirements, deaths, promotions etc in the police department from December 2018-2019.


Replying this to MLA Kuzholiizo (Azo) Nienu in the 5th session of 13th NLA here today, the Minister stated that the number of post arisen due to retirement stands at 882, deaths- 207, promotion- 462 and medical/voluntary retirement at 207.  He informed that 272 number of vacancies has been advertised for the open recruitment rally during 2018-19. The advertised posts includes: LDA- 27, Stenographer Gr-III-05, UBSI (GD)- 15, SI (Opr)- 3, SI (Tech)- 3, ASI- 11. Dy SP- 2, constable (GD) NAP Battalion- 78 and Constable (GD) DEF- 128 (including 33% reservation for female candidates.


Patton also said that 270 appointments made through the recruitment rally during 2018 and 2019. Meanwhile, Azo expressed happiness that the Chief Minister has given commitment to form a committee to look into matter of appointments in police department.


  Meanwhile, School Education Advisor KT Sukhalu today said that the Department is trying to review the communitisation of schools in the state saying the power given to Village Education Committee and School Management Committee has been totally misused.


Stating that proxy teachers are being encouraged and he claimed that “The department is taking up measures to ensure that all these cases are addressed."


Replying to supplementary question raised by MLA Yitachu that the department should be in position to rationalize the teaching staff in a proper way with 2741 teachers appointed in 2019 alone, Sukhalu assured that wherever there is shortage of teachers, the department will look into it
