
Participating colleges of the ‘orientation on NAAC accreditation of colleges’ at Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) on July 20.
Dimapur, July 21 (MExN): An orientation on ‘NAAC Accreditation of Colleges’ was organized by Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) (PCC) in collaboration with Directorate of Higher Education, Nagaland at the college campus on July 20.
To ensure quality in higher education, a press release stated that the ministry of HRD and UGC mandated all colleges undergo the process of assessment and accreditation by 2022. The accreditation is to assess the strength and weakness of the institutions in the country.
The Directorate of Higher Education, Nagaland took up the project of encouraging the non-accredidated colleges to go for NAAC assessment, stated the release. With this objective, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) was assigned as mentor College for the non-accredidated colleges in and around Dimapur.
During the orientation programme, Principal, PCC Husazu Epao, underscoring the importance of NAAC assessment, said that it helps educational institutes initiate innovative methods and principles of instruction alongside grants for infrastructural development.
Epao further added that ‘Globalization of Higher Education’ and ‘Nationalization of Higher Education’ are challenging educational issues that need attention.
The objective of the orientation programme was to reach out to unaccredited colleges. The necessity to get affiliated in NAAC based on latest technology was discussed.
The programme emphasized on the need for extending support to higher educational institutes while underlining that it had made a significant contribution to economic development, social progress and political democracy.
The participants also delved on student migration issues where students faced problem with grades. The participating colleges were encouraged to use the tool of measurement under UGC formula and to mobilize transfer ability and bring programme under CBCS (Choice Based Credit System).
Curricular aspects, teaching- learning and evaluation, research, innovation and extension, infrastructure and learning resources, students’ supports and progression and institutional values and best practices were some of the areas picked to discuss with the participating colleges.
Various speakers spoke on why and how to go for NAAC assessment in the afternoon session.
Participating colleges at the orientation were: Mount Mary College, City College of Arts and Commerce, Yemhi Memorial College, Eastern Christian College, Cornerstone College and JN Aier College.
