PCC students among winners of NSACS 3rd edition of short film competition

Patkai, September 21 (MExN): For the third consecutive time, students of the Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication (DMCC), Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) have been placed as winners in the annual short film competition organised by the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS).

A press release from the PCC Mass Communication stated that in the 3rd edition of short film competition on HIV and AIDS 2022-23 held under the theme, ‘knowledge is bliss,’ the results for which were declared on September 21, two students from the DMCC were featured among the winners. 

Rehti Thonger, a 3rd semester student won the second prize for his film, ‘Grace’. Thematically based on HIV and Youths, Thonger’s film ‘Grace’ touches upon the concept of fast life of youths going astray. 

In addition, Zayiechuto Thakro, a 1st semester student of DMMC, also secured the consolation prize for his film ‘Crossroad.’ Based on theme of ‘Art treatment’ regarding HIV, the film deals in coming with detection, dilemma and conquering the ‘Crossroad’ of initial shock.  

Principal PCC, Dr Thepfuvilie Pierü has congratulated the department and the students for making it to the list of winners in the competition yet again and also wished success in their future endeavours.

As noted, the department has been securing its place in the list of winners since the inception of the state short film competition instituted by NSACS.

In 2020, Sunil Nayak and Randanbeni Patton bagged the 2nd and consolation prize. In 2021, Haidobabe Hingleu and Rutu Thurr won the 1st and consolation prize respectively. 

Overall this year, Tokashe Khala of Kohima won the first prize in the NSACS’ 3rd Short Film Competition 2022 for ‘Uncrossed Path’ while Iziedile Ngia of Peren won the 3rd prize for ‘Saved.’ Both were based on the theme of HIV and Youth.

Among others, the objective of the competition according to NSACS is to “use the power of audio-visual medium blended with the creativity of young minds to spread awareness about HIV and AIDS.” The competition was held for youth in Nagaland in the 15-25 years age group.
