PDA to expedite railway line to Kohima

The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government in its Common Minimum Programmne (CMP) has outlined to expedite railway line to Kohima.   

In the area of railway, it outlined to upgrade Dimapur Railway Station including the starting of freight and container depots, pursue the railway line from Tizit to Khelma via Dimapur and propose for introduction of high speed trains to emanate from Dimapur to important parts of the country especially to New Delhi.  

It also stated that the PDA will upgrade Dimapur airport and enhance air connectivity between Dimapur and the other parts of the country, create regional airline from intra state connectivity of the north eastern states and start green field airports and landing strips and helipads.  

On public transports, the CMP outlined to upgrade state transport department with new and roadworthy fleet of buses, introduce special luxury buses, introduce GPS system/out and in facing cameras etc for monitoring and control, computerize ticketing system, upgrade the bus stations and provide medical centres as also breathalyzers for monitoring of bus drivers, reform and restructure the NST while at the same time go for PPP partnership for introducing new services and make efforts to introduce web/internet based commercial taxi services.
