Kohima | March 24
Former chief minister and opposition leader TR Zeliang today said People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government does not have a Common Minimum Programme and termed it as visionless government of sheer opportunism with sole intention to capture power and devoid of any political morality.
He said that going through the Governor’s Address on March 22, the PDA government does not have any concrete new policy and programme for the people of Nagaland except highlighting of the policies and programmes of the previous DAN government.
Participating in the general discussion on motion of thanks to the Governor’s Address here today, he said PDA does not possess the road map for development of Nagaland except adoption of policies and programmes of the previous DAN government.
“We did not see any new policies and programme and approach towards changes on economy of the people,” he said.
Attacking PDA government on its promise to repair roads in Kohima, Dimapur and other district headquarters within 60 days, he said even if they do repair works, the road will not be sustainable and it will be washed away during the rainy season, which is coming soon.
On Naga political issue, he appealed to the august House not to turn away from what they have committed to the people saying “We should work together for a resolution to Naga political problem.”
Zeliang also informed the House that there is a vast difference between the then NPF-BJP and present NDPP-BJP alliance saying that NPF always had post-poll alliance with the BJP irrespective of the number of seats they win. But now, NDPP has entered into alliance with BJP on seat sharing policy while also conceded more cabinet berth. He therefore questioned as to whether the PDA government was led by BJP or NDPP?
On the slogan of PDA government “Change is coming”, Zeliang said change is not coming but has come since day of the formation of the new government. He cited that the ‘unusual’ swearing in ceremony held at Local Ground Kohima on March 8 last was more or less a ‘felicitation programme’ and not an oath taking ceremony.’
As traditional practice followed throughout the Country, he said the ceremony starts and ends with the National Anthem and there cannot be any other programme like music or speeches. But, the NDPP-led PDA government had changed the tradition.
He pointed said that the Governor had released the Nagaland Vision Document 2030 on December 1, 2016 but termed it unfortunate that his address is totally silent about it.
