PDCCI condemns Cabinet decision, urges reconsideration

Peren, May 7 (MExN): The Peren District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PDCCI) has condemned a recent State Cabinet decision and a press statement issued by the Urban Development and Municipal Affairs department regarding the nominee for the business community in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

According to reports, District Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DCCIs) are to be included as special invitees to ULB meetings at district headquarters whenever matters relating to businesses are discussed or when deemed appropriate. However, it was specified that the DCCIs would have no voting rights.

In response, the PDCCI asserted that the demand for a business community nominee is a legitimate and statutory right under the Nagaland Municipal Act 2023.

The PDCCI further stated that the Cabinet's decision falls short of expectations and represents a "total mockery" of the demand put forth by the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI).

Thus it called for reconsideration of the State Government’s decision and work towards a fair and just outcome. The PDCCI stands firm with CNCCI and remains united with other Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCIs) in this demand, it added.
