PDMGDVA temporarily suspends road blockade

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 16 (MExN): The Phek District Maytas-Gayatri Damaged Victim Association (PDMGDVA) has announced temporary suspension of road blockade on both the Chakhabama-Zunheboto 2 lane road and the Pfutsero-Phek 2 lane road

A press release from the association stated that this was done after mediation by the State Government through the Deputy Commissioner, Phek. The blockade was imposed for 6 hours on September 16.

The Phek DC held an emergency meeting with the association at Chozuba Town and assured that the State Government will provide full support to the demands of the association by pressing the Central Government for urgency in filing its affidavit-in-opposition with regard to the PDMGDVA’s PIL at the Kohima Bench of the Gauhati High Court within three weeks time.

In view of this and the State Government’s request, the association decided to temporarily suspend the first phase of its agitation for three weeks. The association however stated that it would resume agitation if the Centre fails to file its reply to the court when the matter is listed after expiry of three weeks time.
